WAS JOHN MCCAIN UNDER THE INFLUENCE THIS MORNING OR JUST HAVING A BAD DAY?
SOMEONE HAS TO TELL HIM THAT COMEY'S TESTIMONY WAS NOT ABOUT HILLARY CLINTON? WHY COMPARE THE TWO? FORGET HER SERVER. YOU HAVE BIGGER PROBLEMS AND ONE IS THAT YOU WERE NOT COHERENT TODAY.

As expected former FBI Director Comey's testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee was the only big news in the first hour. Things like the results of the election in Great Britain or another attempt being made to end Obamacare didn't make the cut.

At the start Anderson gave an overview and this chyron summed it all up: "Comey: Trump Comments On FBI "Lies, Plain And Simple"". Jim Sciutto and Sara Murray provided more coverage including a clip from Trump's lawyer still maintaining Trump is vindicated and dissing Comey for leaking that conversation memo. Sen. Angus King (I-ME), a major player in the Senate hearing, showed up. Anderson - and a panel of 6 with Toobin, Bernstein, Turley, Bash, Borger and Axelrod - all got to ask questions. This first segment lasted until :28.

Anderson talked to Phil Mattingly at the start of the second segment about Comey's testimony, an investigation on Jared Kushner, Congressional reactions to Comey's comments including Rep. Paul Ryan excusing Trump by saying "The President didn't know any better...didn't know the protocols...he's learning his way...". Anderson interviewed Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) about Comey, Trump and Ryan's excuse. A new panel of Kirsten Powers, Mary Katherine Ham, David Urban and Van Jones convened. I thought that was it until a wider camera shot revealed Toobin and Turley still there. I stayed until Urban's squabbling annoyed me too much.

The last segment of the first hour had Anderson's interview with Sen. James Risch (R-ID), of course regarding Comey's testimony. I didn't pay close attention but did notice Anderson's preview for the second hour start would be former National Intelligence head honcho James Clapper's reaction. The chyron about that was "Clapper: "Worse Than Watergate". Good to see the second hour would start not 4xactly like the first but it was not enough to keep me from Maddow.

I hope but do not expect the second hour had other news like the U.K. election, new 'end Obamacare' attempts or Eric Trump's sleazy foundation blatantly misdirecting donations meant for kids with cancer.

Who's going to believe Trump over Comey? Lying is like breathing for Trump.

THE LOSER IN CHIEF HAS AGREED TO TESTIFY. REALLY? HE IS ACTUALLY GOING TO RAISE HIS RIGHT HAND, AND "SWEAR TO TELL THE TRUTH."
WELL, THAT'S ENCOURAGING BECAUSE WHAT HE SAYS, DOESN'T MAKE ONE BIT OF DIFFERENCE. A TOTAL FAIRY TALE OF FALSEHOODS....LIKE HE HAS A TAPE.
NIXON WASN'T LIKABLE BUT HE HAD SMARTS. THIS GUY DOESN'T KNOW THE TRUTH IF IT SMACKED HIM IN THE FACE...AND HE HAS "CHILDREN." OH MY!
WELL HIS KIDS KNOW HE LIES. MELANIA KNOWS HE LIES, AND NOW THE WORLD KNOWS TRUMP LIES.
IT IS SECOND NATURE....OH AND WHERE ARE THOSE MAKE BELIEVE TAPES THAT IMPLICATE HIM??
I'M NO FAN OF COMEY AFTER WHAT HE DID TO HILLARY, BUT COMEY ISN'T LYING. HE SHOULD NEVER
HAVE GONE ALONE TO THE OVAL OFFICE UNPREPARED AS HE DID. IF TRUMP "WANTS YOU FOR DINNER," HE MEANS IT.

Yes, Trump lies constantly and he'd lie under oath, he has no moral compass or principles. Who could believe anything he'd have to say--plus, he's always making these big announcements only to end up doing nothing--it's the same bag of tricks every time with this guy.

The GOP Senate are using the chaos around Trump to quietly ram through their worse than terrible 'health care' bill without any hearings at all--Sen. Claire McCaskill called them out on how they're deliberately shutting Democrats out of the process. Democrats need to be blasting the GOP about this 24/7 and loudly because much of the public isn't even aware of what the Republicans are up to. It would be nice if we could depend on the news programs to get this info out there as well, but it seems like they give the GOP a pass on the crap they do--imagine if it were Hillary Clinton or Pres. Obama trying to sneak a lousy bill through Congress? This is an outrage. There's no reason we can't focus on Trump/Russia AND the GOP's despicable Obamacare repeal.

Friday's show with John Berman wasn't all Comey but it was all politics. Here are the topics:

- Trump "100%" willing to testify under oath with Berman talking to Jim Acosta about Trump's statement, Comey's testimony and the Senate/House investigations. Berman interviewed Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA). A panel of 6 started but only 4 - Elizabeth Foley, Scott Jennings, Carl Bernstein, Kirsten Powers - got to speak in this segment about various angles and details.

- Clip of Trump promises news about the alleged tapes "in the very near future", Berman points out that could be a very long time, clips of Trump promising answers/info/tax returns either "soon" or under stupid conditions ('Obama has to release his birth certificate') and never delivering or following through. The panel again starting with the two who didn't get to talk in the first segment - Maria Cordona and Laura Coates.

-Berman gave an overview and a history of Presidents testifying under oath - mostly Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan. A new panel with Bernstein, Douglas Brinkley and Jeffrey Lord started and I went to Hayes because I'm boycotting all panels which include Lord.

- "Both Sides Claim Victory After Comey Testimony" with a report including clips from a variety of news sources and a new panel with Brian Stelter, Maria Cordona and Lord. Nope. Hayes.

- A report on Presidents Who Record but I watched Hayes cover the 'Kill ACA, Install Trumpcare' work doing on in the Senate. One of his only two guests pointed out no one was paying attention "...under the cover of Donald Trump's chaos...". I've seen two articles online (one was The Young Turks) about things the GOP is trying to get done while all the attention is on Trump, Comey, investigations and tweets. It'll be nice to see some of these things covered on Monday's 360.

COMEDIAN BILL MAHER'S APOLOGY FOR THE USE OF THE N WORD, TO ALL OF HIS GUESTS, INCLUDING MICHAEL ERIC DYSON, WAS CRINGE WORTHY. HE LOOKED UNCOMFORTABLE AND AS MR DYSON POINTED OUT,
"MAKING FUN OF ANY RACIAL ETHNICITY ISN'T FUNNY." THAT IS THE SUM TOTAL OF MR. DYSON'S REBUKE. IT IS NOT RIGHT "TO GO THERE," JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN.
MAHER KEPT GIVING EXCUSES AS TO WHY HE SAID WHAT HE SAID AND HE APOLOGIZED THREE MORE TIMES.
IMHO IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREATER SACRIFICE IF HE HAD DONE WHAT OTHERS HAVE DONE IN THE PAST, AND TAKEN OUT AN ADD IN THE NY TIMES JUST APOLOGIZING ON WHAT HAD OCCURRED LAST FRIDAY, AND THEN, LET THE MATTER GO. HIS POLITICAL COMMENTARY WAS NEVER AS SHARP AS JON STEWART AND ANY COMIC WHO HAS TO RELY ON RACIAL TAUNTS TO GET A CHEAP LAUGH, DESERVES THE REACTION MAHER GOT BY THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY.
YOU ARE NOT FUNNY WHEN YOU HUMILIATE ANOTHER RACE. YOU ARE NOT FUNNY WHEN YOU USE THE PHRASE "JUST KIDDING" WHEN YOU HURT SOMEONES FEELINGS.
IMHO, MR. MAHER WILL "GO THERE," AGAIN BECAUSE HE STILL JUST DOESN'T "GET IT."

DONALD TRUMP JR. WAS NEVER THE SHARPEST PENCIL IN THE PACK. HE SAID ON FOX NEWS THAT WHEN THE PRESIDENT TELLS YOU TO DO SOMETHING, IT IS A DIRECTIVE AND YOU SHOULD JUST DO IT....BRIGHT BOY JUST CONFIRMED COMEY'S TESTIMONY. DONALD TRUMP ASKED COMEY TO "DO SOMETHING." DONALD JR. WAS NOT SPECIFIC BUT WE NOW KNOW COMEY WAS ASKED BY TRUMP TO BE LOYAL AND LIFT THE DARK CLOUD
OVER HIM. IF TRUMP WANTS THE DARK CLOUD LIFTED HE MIGHT TELL HIS SON NOT TO SPEAK UNLESS SPOKEN TO, BECAUSE HE'S AS STUPID AS HIS FATHER.

@aries moon

i think it was tim o Brien who said that Trump threatened him with tapes when he was unhappy with how he had been quoted, but never produced the tapes. And there is a deposition where trump admits to lying 30 times, and calls it a "negotiating tactic"
