Anderson Cooper 360 with John Berman

With Anderson Cooper on vacation, the very capable John Berman is in the AC360 anchor chair.  John anchored in the 8pm and 9pmET hours last Friday and has been anchoring the 8pmET hour this week.  Chris Cuomo is anchoring the 9pmET hour.  CNN had scheduled "special presentations" in the 9pmET hour this week, but with Hurricane Harvey hitting Texas plans changed and Cuomo has been given the 9pmET hour for the week.   Specials are scheduled for prime time on Monday/Labor Day, but it looks like AC360 is back on the schedule in the 8pm and 9pmET hours starting next Tuesday.  We hope Anderson has a great vacation.

THE NYTIMES IS REPORTING THAT BOGUS CONTINUES TO VIEW MUCH OF HARVEY AS, NOT A SUPER STORM THAT SHOULD BE CALLED OUT AS PART OF CLIMATE CHANGE, BUT WITH CHILDLIKE SUPERLATIVES, SUCH AS "WOW, HOW SPECTACULAR!. NEVER SAW SUCH A FLOOD!" THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS. TRUMP HAS DEMONSTRATED
THAT HE HAS NO HUMAN CAPACITY FOR HARDSHIP AND HOW IT EFFECTS OTHERS WHO ARE ACTUALLY SUFFERING. HE IS TOTALLY VOID OF EMOTION. A TRUE LEADER'S RESPONSE WOULD HAVE BEEN "THOSE POOR PEOPLE. WE MUST ALL UNITE AS A COUNTRY AND HELP THEM AS BEST WE CAN." AND THEN RECTIFY HIS GREATEST MISTAKE: THAT OF DENYING CLIMATE CHANGE. THIS WAS NO "JUST A HURRICANE." IT IS SPECTACULAR IN THE AMOUNT OF WATER THAT HAS FALLEN IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.
THE SUPERLATIVES LIKE : 'WOW,' IS THAT OF A CHILD. NOT AN ADULT. IT SHOULDN'T EVEN BE PART OF A
71 YEAR OLD'S VOCABULARY. DID PRESIDENTS OBAMA OR BUSH EVER USE THE WORD: "WOW" WHEN VIEWING A NATURAL DISASTER? THERE IS SOMETHING VERY MENTALLY WRONG WHEN AN ADULT USES SUPERLATIVES LIKE: WOW, AS THOUGH THE AMOUNT BECKONED HIM TO COME.
YES, THE CHILD/KING CAME AND VIEWED A VERY LARGE "LEAK IN THE GULF OF MEXICO." GEE, GOLLY WOW." AND SO IT WAS, THE CHILD KING CAME AND SAW THIS VERY IMPRESSIVE LEAK. SHOOK OUT HIS BASEBALL CAP, AND CALLED IT ANOTHER RALLY.....FOR HIMSELF. HOW VICTORIOUS! HAIL TO THE CHIEF!

Tuesday's 360 was again mostly about Harvey, Houston and flooding. In the first segment John Berman talked to Miguel Marquez, Drew Griffin, meteorologist Tom Sater, Brian Todd and Gary Tuchman. Except for Sater the reporters were in various locations in and around Houston. Most notable was Todd covering the chemical plant danger in Crosby TX and Gary Tuchman's report featuring two rescues which included pets. In Tuchman's report the police helped a couple search for their cat who turned out to be identical to my own Inky.

In the second segment Berman covered the death of Houston police officer Sgt. Perez and interviewed Police Chief Art Acevedo.

Berman had coverage of Trump's visit to Corpus Christi TX and a Q&A with Jeff Zeleny. Trump's comments on the crowd size and general lack of empathy was noted. The second part of this segment was Berman's interview with grandmother Virginia Saldivar who lost six family members including grandkids to the Houston floods.

Due to a phone call I missed the start of the fourth segment. When I got back Berman was talking to Sara Murray about North Korea, its missiles and Trump's comment on them.

The last segment of the first hour had Berman's Q&A with Ed Lavendera at League City TX and Berman's interview with Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale who opened up his furniture stores as shelters for flood refugees.

Berman has been doing a good job but I wish there was more on non-Harvey news. Things are happening on the Russia investigation and there's new news on Trump's Russian business ties. I'm not saying Houston and its floods aren't important but maybe just one more segment, two out of the five in the hour, could be about other news?

I CAN'T BELIEVE "EL STUPADO" IS GOING TO TRY TO PUSH TAX REFORM ON THE COUNTRY WITH SO MUCH DEVASTATION IN ONE OF THE FIFTY STATES. MAKE THAT TWO. DOES BOGUS REALLY BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE RIGHT TIME TO MAKE THE RICH, RICHER? NOW THAT'S A STUPID RHETORICAL QUESTION: ANY TIME IS RIGHT TO MAKE THE RICH RICHER. YES HE'S HEADING TO ANOTHER RED STATE IN RALLY MODE OF COURSE, TO SELL TAX REFORM. HEY, THE PEOPLE IN TEXAS ARE STILL SUFFERING AND YOU SIR, WANT TO KICK YOUR OWN RED CAP WEARERS, WHEN THEY'RE DOWN. THERE ARE NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE INJUSTICE.
NO WORDS. AND I AM NEVER AT A LOSS FOR WORDS....AS YOU WELL KNOW.

GOOD TO SEE ANDERSON BACK ON THE JOB AGAIN......OUT IN THE FIELD. NOW LET'S STOP TALKING ABOUT WHO IS BEING SAVED AND HOW MUCH WATER FELL. LET'S BEGIN A CONVERSATION ON THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM, CLIMATE CHANGE. IT IS REAL AND IT IS HAPPENING AS WE SPEAK AND WE MUST BY PASS ILLITERATE BOOB TUBES, LIKE OUR PRESIDENT AND HIS PARTY, AND BEGIN TO PREPARE FOR IT, BECAUSE THE HARVEY'S ARE THE NEW REALITY, AND WE ARE ALL, ONE STORM AWAY FROM BEING HOUSTON.
