Again I missed the start of 360 on Friday, I was about 3 minutes late and Anderson just ended talking to a reporter about the chemical plant explosion in Crosby TX. This led to an interview with retired Lt. Gen. Russel Honore about the chemical plant explosion, toxic smoke dangers, EPA regulations and helicopter rescues. Then Gary Tuchman in Beaumont reported on the failure of the water system due to the flooding, getting it fixed and people who are evacuating. Next Anderson interviewed Beaumont Fire Chief Anne Huff about the water - tap water and the water in the streets. The first segment ended with meteorologist Allison Chincher regarding Hurricane Irma and her path predictions.

Anderson talked to Nick Valencia about the shelters and just about everybody else running out of supplies and he talked to Allison Kosik about long lines for gas, gas stations running out, fights among those waiting for gas and price gouging.

Because of Hayes I missed the start of the third segment but think it was simply Anderson's introduction to his taped report on accompanying Susan Peterson to her flooded home. ATA has included it in today's post. It was the typical 'oh my gosh, look at all the water in here' report but my brain hit a snag and stopped functioning for a short while when the woman said she left her four cats behind. She said she would come back and look for them some more but really... her cats are dead. There's just no way. Even if I had 10 cats and a tsunami was coming I'd find a way to bring them all with me whether I'd have to make my own cat carriers out of an old cardboard boxes or quickly make leashes for them out of shoe strings, I wouldn't leave a kitty depending upon me to keep them safe and sound and ALIVE.
The second part of the segment was Anderson talking to David Persse of the Houston Public Health Authority mostly about mold.

The fourth segment was an update on politics mostly on Mueller obtaining a first draft of Trump's letter firing Comey and that does not look good for Trump. Dana Bash, Jonathan Turley and David Gergen discussed the implications, aide Keith Schiller leaving the White House, Trump's upcoming visit to Houston, Trump's pledge to donate $1M for flooding help and the shadiness of past Trump donations.

Speaking of donations, that was the topic of the last segment of the first hour. GOOD people making honest donations like computer guy Michael Dell donating $36M and Houston Texans football guy J.J. Watt setting up a fund and exceeding expectations by raising over $13M. Anderson interviewed Watt about the fund and how he plans to allocate the money. Also on hand was celebrity chef Jose Andres who told Anderson about his work in helping Houston.

The show slid right into the second hour without a commercial break. It started with Gary Tuchman reporting from Beaumont.

Now I'm going to snuggle my kitty Inky. I don't have 10 cats. Just Inky.

@JAANZA; I READ THE HORROR THAT YOU POSTED ABOUT THE WOMAN WHO LEFT HER CATS BEHIND AND I CRINGED. SOME PEOPLE ARE NOT COMMITTED TO THEIR ANIMALS. THEY DO NOT MAKE GOOD HUMAN COMPANIONS. JUST LIKE SOME PEOPLE WHO ARE PARENTS, SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAD CHILDREN.
I AM A MOTHER TO A FUZZBALL MYSELF AND I WOULDN'T GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT HER. I'VE HAD 7 CATS.
ONE FOR EACH DECADE, AND THEY WERE ALL MY CHILDREN.
GLADLY, MOST TEXANS TOOK THEIR PETS. THANKS TO PETA AND OTHER ANIMAL ASSOCIATIONS, PETS ARE NOW CONSIDERED FAMILY.
NOW ON TO HARVEY: BOGUS AND WIFE ARRIVED NEAR HOUSTON AND "USED" THE SITUATION AS BEST HE COULD. GENERAL KELLY MUST HAVE TAPED TRUMP'S MOUTH SHUT BECAUSE HE ACTUALLY SAW HUMAN SUFFERING
AND TRIED TO ACT PRESIDENTIAL....THIS IS TOUGH FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS ZERO EMPATHY FOR ANYONE OTHER THAN HIMSELF. I'M CERTAIN, HE REALLY FELT LIKE BRAGGING ABOUT HIS NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. BUT HE PULLED IT OFF. HE PICKED THROUGH THE CROWD LIKE HE REALLY CARED AND MOST TEXANS SEEMED GLAD TO SEE HIM. NOW THE BIG QUESTION: SO WHEN WILL TRUMP DONATE THE ONE MILLION HE PROMISED TO VICTIMS OF THE DEVASTATION?? TALK IS CHEAP, BUT THAN WE EXPECT SO LITTLE FROM BOGUS. NOTHING WOULD SURPRISE ANY OF US, INCLUDING HOW VERY STINGY THIS PERSON OF MEANS CAN BE. WE KNOW ALREADY THAT BOGUS IS NEVER CHARITABLE, UNLESS THERE IS AN UGLY MOTIVE TIED TO WHAT 'APPEARED TO BE THOUGHTFULNESS.'

This Yashar Ali's obsession with taking down Anderson is really tiresome. Normally I wouldn't care, but he is friends with all the journalists and they all follow him on twitter too. And he wrote a whole NYMag piece about it. I wish Anderson hadn't sworn off twitter and reading his mentions, no one is defending him or presenting his pov.

SOMEONE HAS TO TELL DONALD J. TRUMP THAT EVERY PRESIDENT GETS A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT WHO SERVED PRIOR TO HIS TAKING OFFICE. "WE WOULDN'T EVER LET THE PRESS KNOW WHAT IS IN THAT LETTER" WAS TRUMP'S REPLY. BOGUS, THE PRESS JUST PRINTED THE LETTER PRESIDENT OBAMA LEFT YOU....IT WASN'T A LOVE LETTER.
OBVIOUSLY OBAMA THOUGHT YOU COULD READ, BUT HE WAS WRONG. HE ALSO THOUGHT YOU'D TAKE HIS ADVICE, WHICH WAS JUST COMMON SENSE, OF WHICH YOU HAVE NONE.
FINALLY THE FORMER PRESIDENT WAS RESOLUTE IN HIS UNDERSTANDING OF GLOBAL ISSUES. YOU DON'T KNOW OR CARE ANYTHING ABOUT ANY ISSUES, SO THE LETTER WAS A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME, AS WELL AS THE PRESIDENTIAL STATIONARY ON WHICH IT WAS WRITTEN.
I'M CERTAIN SOMEONE HAD TO READ THE LETTER TO YOU, BECAUSE YOU CAN'T FOCUS NOR DO YOU COMPREHEND. NO WONDER YOUR FATHER SENT YOU TO MILITARY SCHOOL, SO YOU COULD BE DISCIPLINED.
UNFORTUNATELY FOR THE UNITED STATES, IT DIDN'T WORK.
HUFFPOST HAS THE LETTER PRESIDENT OBAMA LEFT IN THE OVAL OFFICE. IT IS BOTH TOUCHING AND INFORMATIVE....TWO QUALITIES BOGUS WILL COMPLETELY DISREGARD. (SOMEONE PROBABLY FOUND THE NOTE, CRUMPLED IN THE WASTE PAPER BASKET TO BE DISPOSED OF AS GARBAGE.)
