Can I get a martini with my politics please?

Good Evening, All! I hope you are having a wonderful day! So did you watch the SOTU last night? I did. Well, I mostly hurled insults at the TV and listened very little. I learned a new curse word this week and I think I used it very effectively last night! I had no idea how fun it was to watch the SOTU while IM’ing with a friend! We were very effective in e-screaming at Dubya for 50 or so minutes! My husband couldn’t even watch. However, one very positive note from last night was the introduction of the new Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. How cool was it to see a woman sitting in that seat?

And I must say it was really hard not to have a negative reaction to the TV last night. Not because of President Bush. No, I swear my blood pressure skyrocketed every time they showed Cheney sitting there with that smug, disgusted look on his face. Maybe he didn’t like Ms. Pelosi’s perfume. I don’t know what it is but I have an incredible dislike for our Vice President. (Can you say that without being hauled in by the FBI, nowadays?) Oh who cares, they have probably figured out a way to wiretap our brains now. It might be able stop terrorist threats, you know!

Okay, I’ll stop. I apologize. I do not have the restraint that Anderson Cooper has. I tend to inject my opinions in to everything I write!

Change of subject
So, how many people just adored Michael Ware last night? OMG, how great it was to watch him so animated standing right there with Anderson in Washington D.C. Nice surprise indeed. And was I mistaken or did his face light up when Anderson asked him when he’d be returning to Iraq? I think he misses being in the thick of things. Cyn, if you are out there, I’d love to hear what you thought about last night! I made some great caps just for you! Man, he is expressive when he speaks!

And you gotta love Andrew Sullivan. I thought it was great that he was live-blogging the whole speech. Wouldn’t you love to have been a fly on the wall over hearing Anderson, Michael Ware and Andrew talking about the speech? I’d love to hear Anderson’s real thoughts about the State of the Union! If you haven’t read Andrew’s live blogging thread, you must! Its great! Oh, and I sent an email to Andrew today trying to explain the “Baby Frigging Einstein” Corporation. Yeah, something tells me, he could care less about a bunch of baby videos but I felt I must inject one parent’s positive point of view, given the horrid article he sites from TPM CafĂ©. Lord, I’m such a Libra! Justice for All!

I wanted to discuss something that came up in the comments on my post last night. A theory I have really. Everyone seems a bit weary that we are entering into the presidential election season far too early. I think that this is just a burst of activity because people are finally declaring their intentions to run. I think that this talk will die down for a couple of months. Lord, I hope I’m right. Because even though I love a good political debate, I agree with y’all. It’s far too soon to be discussing this stuff! (Yet it is strangely exciting! Sorry!)

Oh and here is my squee for the day: I loved that whole suit and tie combo last night! It was really pretty. Although I do agree with Ms. Faerie, stripes and polka dots do not match. But, I just loved all the blue, very presidential! Okay, here's my bid: Anderson Cooper in 2008! (ah, a girl can dream!)

Okay my friends! I’m off to take care of my very precocious 5 year old. She is making Mommy’s life a bit difficult lately! Someone pass me a martini, please! Toodles!

Andy was hot last night and I can forgive the polka dot pinstripe Faux Paux because of that. And seeing Michael Ware was great. Jack Cafferty said tosday that he has been getting a lot of emails asking about Michael - more than about any other reporter. Look out Anderson Michael's fan base is growing.

As for yelling at the television I have been trying to restrain myself from doing that during 360, but during the SOTU I find it quite acceptable. And I think most of the country was in yelling mode last night.

Yeah he looked very tight and sexy w/the blue on! I bet Gloria liked the look as well.

What was her comment about wearing blue and/or pinstripes?

I think someone else mentioned this one time on this blog about Anderson's hands. There is just something about them, that when he talks with them, I think it is really sexy. His fingers are just so long and thin. I know go to the naughty chair.

I didn't like the blue dot tie and blue stripped suit, but after seeing them in your pictures, I have to say I changed my mind. I love the pictures that you post. They are always so good.

@ queenannegirl: that it was a bit much together!! if he'd had a solid blue tie, i would have been happier. too busy for my taste.

i hate baby einstein. i've told the husband that, when we have kids, none of that in the house. i once had a reference question from a woman who wanted videos for her 8 month old to watch. why the hell should an 8 month old be watching videos?! my .02, anyway. i'll shut up now.

The SOTU wasnt really anything surprising, it was about exactly what I expected out of Bush. Anderson's show was great! I am really becoming a Candy Crowley fan!

Isnt she CNN's only female political correspondent or am I wrong? Anyway great post!

Sorry, I drank all the booze in the house this morning - bad day...someone stole my identity to the tune of $20,000! On a happier note, he looked great last night and very comfortable talking live with all those Senator's & Rep's.

Sheryn, during the actual speech I just wanted to throw something every time I saw that s**tf**e look on Chaney's face. I couldn't sleep last night so after hearing ALL the analysis, I watched the sotu again. Chaney had the biggest %$^$@ look on his face when bush (I refuse to capitalize it anymore) was coming up to the 'carefully constructed' segment on Iraq. Immediately following his new plan to kill more of our fine young men, he threw in the comment about supporting our men in Iraq. So even though he didn't get democratic support for his plan, everyone had to stand when he threw in the praise of the military. aarrgg

Michael Ware looked so good and rested last night, and it scared me that he was so animated and sure that this was going to result in a lot of deaths. As I said to you last night, every time they show Sauder City my mind immediately goes to the movie Blackhawk Down. I pray I’m wrong.

Anderson was so gorgeous last night. I was in the middle of a personal crisis when he came on, and as upset as I was…he was just so drop dead gorgeous…AND in blue!!!! What a hunk. During the second airing I just muted it and watched…how hopeless am I?

@sheryn,

Well the color and design work for him albeit he doesn't need to look any slimmer or he will have to buy clothing from the teen department!

@bigfanofac...yes, I adore his hands and his gestures. I don't know why I notice them, but I find them very sexy.

I'm signing annon because the only time I googled my name my adoration of his hands popped up first thing. I'm blushing as I recall.

Sheryn, I am here, and had to scrape myself off the floor after seeing Michael Tuesday night. (In a suit jacket! First time ever!) He certainly looks like he had a great holiday -- and yes, HUGE grin when he talked about getting back to Baghdad. The man is certifiable! :)

Like the Cafferty File folks, I have been buried in e-mails asking where he is, what happened, etc. A lot of people are very happy to see him again! (And his with-all-due-respect rebuttal of Cheney's "faith in Maliki" statement yesterday was PRICELESS.)

It was great to see him and Anderson laughing together. I hope we get a bit more of that before the week is over.
