Anderson Cooper meets Nancy Pelosi at Swiss Camp

Hi everyone! I'd like to say a big "Welcome Back" to our Ms. Phebe. Nice to see you again, lady! I hope you enjoyed your vacation!

Last week I surmised that Anderson Cooper and the 360 Team timed their Planet in Peril visit to Swiss Camp, Greenland to coincide with Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi and her delegation's expedition. Well, it seems I was correct in my assumptions! According to the Gavel.com, Ms. Pelosi and the bipartisan delegation met with Dr. Konrad Steffen this weekend. In addition to Greenland, the Pelosi's team will be traveling to Germany, Great Britian and Belgium to meet with leading scientists to discuss the global warming issue as well as possible solutions to the growing problem.

I am so glad that Ms. Pelosi and her team are giving the issue of global warming attention it so desperately deserves! Here is are some pictures from the Gavel.com:

Anderson Cooper with Nancy and Paul PelosiDr. Konrad Steffen, Ms. Pelosi and others (see Gavel.com for more details)

Please visit the Gavel.com for more breathtaking photos from Greenland!

In other Andernews, Inside Cable.com is reporting that Anderson Cooper 360 will be airing a one hour special on the unprecedented violence in the Chicago Public School system. The special, named 24 Hours in Chicago "recreates for its viewers a 24-hour stretch of time before one victim, Blair Holt, lost his life. The program airs during the first hour of Anderson Cooper 360° at 10pm on Thursday, May 31. " Click here for more details!

Also, I wanted to call your attention to the beautiful tribute page CNN.com has put together called, Coming Home which features articles and videos about Families of War, War Today, Remembering Loved Ones, Welcome Home, The Fisher House heroes, and so much more. Please take some time to visit this very moving special section to discover how our soldiers and their families are coping with the effects of war.

That's it for me today! I hope you have a peaceful evening! ~Sheryn

Bravo to Anderson for getting such an exclusive!! I didn't think anyone knew that Nancy Pelosi was going to Greenland. I can't wait for that interview!

This is completely off topic but I just read on TVNewser that Jeff Koinange is no longer with CNN. CNN refused to comment on the reason.

I agree with Anon 1:03 that this was a coup for AC & CNN, but the mom in me asks: "Anderson where is your hat?"

@Anon 1:11 it's true and a sad state of affairs.

Are you saying the AC360 team will be traveling to Germany, GB, and Belgium? Is this straight from leaving Greenland?

I'm so glad that Nancy Pelosi went to Swiss Camp! Hopefully she'll get the urgent news back to Congress and something can be done fast. I, too, cannot wait for that exclusive!!

@anon 1:11, WHAT??? Jeff is gone?? Oh, that's so incredibly sad.

@Anon 1:19, PELOSI's team will be traveling on to Germany and such.

I hope that they have more on this on AC360 tonight. It is great that he got the exclusive.

I agree, why doesn't he have his hat on. You know he will come back with a cold. HA

Thanks for the info and pictures Sheryn. I was wondering if he was still there or not?

hello Mis Sheryn thank you for this information. Mis Sheryn i just like to ask something about Mr. Anderson Copper because as we all knew that in his name there is Hayes in the middle how come that there is Hayes not Vanderbilt. another thing is it true that Mr. Anderson Cooper became a judge at Iron Chef when was this and is there any video clip of this show and also video clips of his appearance at Oprah. Thank you so much Mis Sheryn

JBchicago I forgot to put my name LOL!
I asked about his appearance at Iron Chef and his middle name and appearances at Oprah. thank you and sorry.

I said Monday morning in my comments that Nancy Pelosi was in Greenland. I saw her on American Morning while all you Americans were most likely sleeping in due to the lovely long weekend. I had hoped that we would have seen some of it last night. So hopefully we will see lots of good stuff tonight.

Great find on the photos Sheryn - I can't believe Anderson isn't wearing his tuque but if it is only like minus 8 that is not so bad. (Spoken like a true Canadian :P)

What the fudge......Jeff is gone!
I am so upset by this news. I love Jeff and the story he brings us about Africa. I am very sad about this news :(

Sheryn said...

@JBChicago, if I'm not mistaken, Anderson's brother's middle name was Vanderbilt and Anderson's is Hays. Anderson's first name was that of his father's grandmother's maiden name and his middle name, Hays is his mother's great grandfather's middle name as well.

As for Iron Chef, yes that's is true he was a judge. I will put it in the Anderson Cooper Video Vault list for you.

As far as Oprah videos, I think there are some copyright issues that don't allow us to post these clips. I'm sorry about that.

Hope that helps!

It looks like Andy and the 360 team had a productive weekend in Greenland.

Anderson Hays Cooper!!! Where is your hat??? It's very cold there. Don't you know you'll get sick??? That's what I'd like to say to him...LOL!!!

I hope they show more of Greenland tonite on 360.

That special about Chiacago school sysetm should be interesting. I really like the 24 hour format.

FanGirl moment: I just can't get over how adorable Andy looks all bundled up. I hope he's had a chance to thaw out. Perhaps take a nice hot shower and then crawl into bed and sleep until he is nice and warm.

I just thought of something. The other day Andy said that in Greenland you can't tell where the horizon begins and the ice ends. Well Andy's hair is the same color as the snow, so you can't tell where the snow begins and Andy's hair ends...LOL!!!

what?! jeff koinange isn't with cnn anymore?! that is not good. i really liked jeff and his stories from africa.

on the topic of climate change, an environmental group here in canada has filed a law suit against the conservative canadian government for failing to meet Kyoto emissions targets. the government made up it's own emissions targets which are pretty much a joke. nothing will probably come of the law suit, but maybe the government will wake up to the fact that this is what their country wants.

Good to see someone from Congress interested in global warming! Looking forward to this interview and what Mrs. Pelosi's views are on this subject and what our country may be doing about it. Awesome pics of Greenland! Those tents are surrounded by nothing, but ice.

Sorry to hear about Jeff leaving CNN. He was a great asset and I loved watching his stories about Africa.

From what I understand KC doesn't know the difference between anesthesize and euthanize! She is a terrible anchor, but I'm just glad she isn't working in the health care system!

It was nice that none other than Ms. Pelosi heads the delegation that will tackle the problems of global warming. I wonder what are their possible solutions to the issue. And I hope the color of politics won't get in the way.

@Anon l:ll, I can't believe that Jeff Koinange is no longer with the company. I think he's one of their best.

@PT, I liked your new thumbnail icon. It's cute.

@Megan,thanks for the compliment on my weird thoughts. Glad I could make you laugh...LOL!!!

Great pics - but I agree - where is his hat??? Best way to get a cold or worse is to let your head get cold; but yummy didn't he look good. I hope he got a good interview with Pelosi and its on tonight. I hope he is on tonight too - live and in person, etc. etc.

The upcoming special sounds great - where does AC get the time to do all he does? I know he works, works, works, but there is only so many hours in a day. Wonder if he expects his team members to work as long of hours as he does????

That's bad about Jeff K. I liked him - he gave such good reports; wonder who will fill his shoes.

BTW - I watched NBC news over the weekend and I saw a young reporter doing a field report that looked so much like Anderson it was amazing. I didn't get his name - I was too stunned. Any one got a clue who it might be??

He's ON!!!! in NY ....and yummy does he look good. White shirt with thin blue stripe. Oh my am I a happy camper!

@Araceli Elle I have a Paralegal degree and a few years ago I worked on an environmental case where our firm represented Canada against a local city for gas emissions from the waste plant. It was interesting, but I don't know how it ended - I think they settled.

As much as I love Anderson's travels for PIP I wish he'd discuss some of the problems right here in good old North America. Take the vanishing wetlands and the disappearing Great Lakes - that effects everyone especially the wetlands and Hurricane Season that starts Friday. And it's going to be a really bad one and despite what people may think they aren't prepared if the big one hits the Gulf especially in MS.

I think he just pulled his hat off so that you could recognize that it was him.

Wow! CNN took my suggestion (well I may not have been the only one). After the WVA tragedy I e-mailed them complaining about them having a website dedicated to the students but there wasn't one for our troops. Glad to see the Coming Home page.

@annie kate hmm, I watch NBC news frequently, but don't recall anyone that looks likes Anderson - I'll have to keep an eye out now! My favorite NBC correspondent is Richard Engel (the man speaks 4 languages!), but while he wears a flakjacket well, he's not Anderson. :-)
