Happy Anniversary to Us!

Happy Anniversary To Us!

Can you believe it? It's ATA's 2 year anniversary! I know that's not a long time in real time, but in the world of Anderson Cooper blogs it's an eternity.

When I began this site, 2 years ago, I had no idea how much work it would be... or how much fun it would be. It has given me some of the closest friends in my life and that is the best reward one can ever hope for.

If you go back through the archives (it's now in calendar form on the sidebar) you'll see the history of ATA unfold. First to join the team was Purple Tie. I don't know how I ever convinced her to leave what was the best Anderson Cooper blog at the time, Anderson Cooper Corner, but I'm just so glad that she did. Next came our master researcher Quitty. Actually she was Quitman at the time. Our Ms. Sheryn started calling her Quitty and it stuck. And speaking of Sheryn she gave up her excellent AC blog to join the fun next. I think she thought it would be less work to be part of a blog team, but it kinda hasn't worked out that way. What time she saved is now spent twofold researching, uploading clips and emailing with her blog buddies. Like I said before we are a very close bunch.

This year, we branched out by creating our sister blog, All Things CNN. And this year has also brought us 3 more contributors. Our wonderful Book Asylum, who is another excellent researcher and to whom we owe a huge debt of gratitude for implementing the new blog design. I have learned through this entire process that BA is a most patient person. She never complained about all the tweaks and design changes, just tried to make it work. Besides being a programming wiz, she always finds new and unique news to blog about. And our sweet Sapphire. She is always there to lend a helping hand. And last, but certainly not least, my friend Cyn. She was an old hand at blogging when she joined us. Her Michael Ware blog is the gold standard for fan blogs.

And I would be remiss if I didn't mention our wonderful graphic artist, Lori, who is always ready and willing to create whatever wild and crazy ideas we come up with. And she gets all the credit for our new, fabulous banner. She's got a few surprises up her sleeve for the upcoming holidays so stay tuned for that.

There you have it, that's the team...but it doesn't tell the whole story. Without you, the readers, we wouldn't have survived two weeks, let alone two years. You're here everyday to read, comment, even send us tips from time to time. So celebrate with us. It's as much your anniversary as it is ours. And thank you. You will never know how much your friendship and support means to all of us. ~Phebe

Now onto the news of the day. Did you catch Anderson's segment on 60 Minutes? It was fascinating. I've read a bit about this phenomena but I really had no idea that the recovery was as dramatic as what we saw in AC's segment. Part of the report was AC having a MRI to observe verbal stimulation to his brain. Again very, very interesting.

If you missed the program Anderson's segment is posted on the 60 Minutes website.

We have one more thing to celebrate today. It's Purple Tie's birthday. I really have to say a hasty adieu. The ladies have already popped the corks on the champagne and the celebration has begun. Happy Birthday PT and Happy Anniversary ATA!

Phebe I love the blog. I looks so nice and cool :) Great job with it!!!

Happy 2 Year Anniversary ATA!!!

The 60 minutes piece was very interesting and sad. It broke my heart to see those people like that. But it is good that they can be more alert than they were.

Happy Birthday Purple Tie!!! I hope you had a great day and enjoyed yourself :)

I've recorded 60 Minutes. Should be good.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to say thanks to Phebe for being the "ring leader" of this bunch. She does a great job! I also want to send out an acknowledgement to my co-bloggers. This "job" isn't always easy and it can be time consuming but we all do this because we love our readers and admire the subject of our blog. It's a pleasure to work with each and everyone of them!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Monday's the actual day and I'll be working but I'll be dreaming of a beach vacation ;)

Happy 2 Year Anniversary ATA!!!! Many, many happy returns. Phebe, you have done an amazing job here with your wit and wisdom, only to have equally fabulous bloggers PT, Quitty, Sheryn, Sapphire, BA, and Cyn on board to help you out. I appreciate your acknowledging me as being part of the team, though my contributions are rather small compared to the others.

Kudos to BA and gang for working out the kinks with the banner design(s) and Mac issues. :P

Happy Birthday Purple Tie! It's totally OK to dream of beach vacations while working on your birthday...

When I first starting reading this blog, I had no idea how much work went into keeping it going. I also never dreamed that I'd get the opportunity to find that out first hand! My fellow blog mates are first rate! You ladies keep things fun in the ATA office!

Thanks also to all our readers. One of the things that I've always enjoyed about this site are the interesting conversations that go on in the comments.

Happy Birthday, PT!

Yeah! I'm so excited to see the new layout finally unveiled. Book Asylum and Lori have put a lot of hours into this and have done an amazing job.

A toast to my fellow bloggers and you the reader! Thanks for a fun-filled 2 years.

Wow 2 years,amazing!!!
Love the new look too!

I am so glad you left the Ander archives here-love going back from time to time to watch some videos.

Happy birhtday PT!!

Am looking forward to Ellen on Tuesday, and hopefully Mr.Cooper will return tomorrow.

Cindy said...

Hey...you all know I don't comment much on here but I do read ya everyday!! LOL Just wanted to say nice layout!!

Be ready to be copied though!! LOL I guess that would be the highest form of flattery though huh!? LOL

Have a good one!!

Cindy said...

OOPS...forgot to say this on my last post!!

I looked on Ellen's web site and they have a video of who is going to be on the show for each day of the week. They show Coop being
interviewed. I think he taped it the last time he was there in LA when he did the speech at that college. Because he has on that stripped black and white tie and black suit that he wore for days on end on 360.

Happy Anniversary ATA!!! Throws confetti again!!! Beautiful lay-out! Like WOW!! And that wonderful picture of Anderson that we all like just keeps looking back at you. I love it!! This is a really good looking change! Thanks so much again for all of your hard work with the blog!

Happy Birthday, Purple Tie, I hope that you have a really wonderful birthday Monday and it is extra special for you!

The 60 Minutes segment was very moving. Maybe, something will be learned from these people and more research will be done to find ways to help them.

I want to second what PT said... Phebe does an amazing job, and is the heart of the site. And all the ladies are amazing, and very welcoming to the newbie!

And the new design is just stunning! (Since I had absolutely no part in it, I can rave it up to my heart's content!) Love the graphics, the lay-out, everything! Very classy, very striking, very cool! Way to go, ladies!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!

I must say, I was nervous to begin commenting on this blog, but slowly I broke out of my shell and managed to "meet" some of the nicest people in the blogosphere, and that is so inspiring.

(Oh, and Happy Birthday PT!)

I can't believe how long I've been commenting on the blog, which is really great, since this is an online community of which I am proud to be a part of.

CONGRATS!!

Congrats to all of you on your two-year anniversary! Phebe...I remember well when you started ATA. It began as a modest little blog that let you voice your thoughts on Anderson and 360. Did you ever imagine you’d still be here two years down the road and better than ever? PT…ATA would not be what it is without your contributions. A very happy birthday to you my dear! Be sure to do something just for you today because you deserve it. And Sheryn…what can I say? You have such talent…don’t ever give up writing! Quitty…we can always count on you for long-forgotten and obscure bits of interesting info. I know from each of you just how much time and effort this blog takes, but I also know that it is truly a labor of love, most of the time anyway! Cyn, Sapphire and BA…you three have added so much talent and creativity. Thanks to you all for your efforts. It’s been so much fun to watch from the sidelines as it’s all unfolded.

I am happy to be able to call you ladies my friends and I want to say a big ‘Thank You’ to Anderson for bringing us all together. I can only hope that he knows just how many life-long friendships he is responsible for starting these last couple of years!

So, congratulations again on this milestone. Here’s to the next two! Oh…and the new look is awesome! Well done.

Hugs,

Carrie

I love the new look! Although I was worried for a little while when I came by earlier today and the blog was invited-readers only; I almost cried! So glad you were just updating the look. Congrats on 2 years!

Wow, your really work on this layout love the background and the picture along the top. Might be a while for I get use to the changes. I notice the small picture on the left of the screen below all yall names and omg his eyes could someone like make that picture bigger.

Happy birthday Purple Tie and Happy Anniversary.

The 60 minute report was really interesting. I enjoyed watching except like flipping from Anderson interviewing Glen Beck(headline showing it again) and seeing if the football game had went off so I would watch Anderson report.

Fabulous new layout!

It was a scary time for a moment earlier when ATA looked to have gone away, but thank goodness it's back and even better. I think that it is a wonderful thing that you all made such close friendships due to this blog, it's no wonder that it's run so well. I appreciate all of the hard work that goes into keeping this blog up and running and all of the amazing material that has been posted here.

I have been reading your blog for the past two years and really enjoy your efforts. I know it is a lot of hard work but please take this comment into consideration as I would like to KEEP on reading this blog as an ANDERFAN. The print is too large and the face graphic is very distracting. I liked it before because it was subtle and didn't shout. This shouts and the info gets lost. Sorry but it is just too busy.

Happy Anniversary to ATA!!!! I first discovered this blog when I became interested in AC360 last spring. There were several blogs devoted to AC at the time, but none were as classy as ATA. Some allowed comments which were downright mean. I really do appreciate ATA and all the work that goes into it. There is a terrific group of regular commenters here, and I truly enjoy reading daily what they have to say. I wish the Anonymous folk would sign their names, so I could get to know them, too.

I just love the new look of the blog, especially how you scroll down to read the post and that marvelous face with my favorite all-time photo just keeps staring back at you. Awesome! Congratulations and thanks! Wishing you many more years of successful blogging!

Ooooh !! Happy anniversary ATA ! I absolutely love that picture of him, staring out at me ! LOL !I remember the moment I stumbled across ATA this year in August, it was like striking gold where Anderson's concerned. Keep up the good work.
The bad news, I can't watch Ellen's show, it clashes with work. I'm sure it's going to be hilarious and that's a part of AC I seldom get to see :(

Happy anniversary.

Has anyone else besides me had an MRI? I was wondering if the scene of Anderson going into the scanner was staged. They made me wear a hospital gown when I was scanned to make sure I wasn't wearing any metal. Things like zippers and buttons can get ripped out by the magnets in the machine. Otherwise, it was a very interesting report.

Happy anniversary to you all. Never ever stop! You are the only way I can get my fix as I can't stay up late enough to watch the show as my 3 year old wipes me out by the time 10 rolls around and sometimes my gym doesn't put on CNN when I'm working out at 5 am to see the replay. Without you girls I would be lost!

Happy birthday to PT as well!

BookAsylum and Lori what an amazing job you did on the layout. I bow at your genius. I see we finally see what the winner of the PIP voteoff won!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PURPLE TIE!!!! Are you enjoying 21?!?!?

To all our readers and commentors. You are the main reason why we do what we do and we thank you for your continued support!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY ATA!!!!!!! Here is to many, many more

60 Minutes was awesome last night. What a fantastic story. I do have to say I did eekk a bit when I saw Anderson going in for the MRI. I never in a million, million years thought I would see what his brain looked like. Again very interesting.

@parrotslave, my cousin had an MRI done a couple of years ago and she didn't have to wear a hospital gown. They just told her she couldn't have any metal on, so she just wore sweat pants and a t-shirt. Maybe Andy didn't have any metal on.

My sister has had an MRI done, and yes they made her put on a gown, and make sure she had no jewelry or metallic objects around.

Was it because they were only doing his head maybe?

I wonder if our Anderson is back tonight?
Miss him a lot!

I am likin' this new look so much ladies, and am so happy I can still find the Ander archives!!LOL

I love to go back and watch the videos again!

Oh I forgot this the last time, sorry. But seeing the first pic reminded me.

But I have seen cardboard Andy over at Ebay for $ 200.00????

Not sure if it is still there now.

I just have a couple of questions about that:
-it is only cardboard and that is a lot of money?
-how the heck do you mail it to someone?

For $ 200 bucks,I want real Andy at my post office!LOL

All I can say ladies is WOW!
After the initial scare that your site vanished into cyber space, I am thrilled at the graphics and the background picture of Anderson. I love that picture.
Congrats on your two year anniversary. All of you must surely love what you do on this site and I love what you do on this site. It is a classy site.
How nice of the Chicago Bears and the Denver Bronco's to go into overtime so I could watch Anderson on Glen Beck and 60 Minutes without flipping channels. His 60 Minutes piece was great.
Happy Birthday Purple Tie and many more Happy Birthdays.

LOL Phebe, I would say you were down for maintenance! Love the site, it looks fantastic! Happy Anniversary to all of you!

I have been an AC fan for awhile but it took me some time to get up courage to comment on a blog. I tried a few other blogs and people were either very territorial about AC or not respectful about his personal boundaries. One day, I decided to comment on this blog because the ladies of ATA seemed to be respectful but also not hostile when someone had a differing opinion. I distinctly remember thinking, “I will try this one time and if they are mean or rude I am done with this blogging thing." Most of you won’t be surprised when I say I received a warm welcome from both Phebe and Sheryn. Now many, many months later I find myself logging into ATA almost every day (occasional days off for things like severe illness, weddings, and funerals!) Yes ladies, my name is Em and I am an ATA addict...and loving it! I have mentioned before that I tele-commute which means that I am basically alone for about 12-14 hours per day. My job can be very demanding and tedious. I really appreciate having some place to come when I need a break and maybe a laugh or two. Each contributor to ATA brings a unique and interesting perspective…you are all awesome! Phebe and Sheryn, I also want to thank you for time you have taken to respond to me on a personal level when circumstances have warranted. You are great friends whom I hope to meet some day! And of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t send a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to PT! Have a great week everyone!

I'm sorry. I do not agree with your "regulars" about the graphics.
You are supposed to be writing about a serious journalist. It is in very poor taste. This blog used to be tastefully presented and that is why I was attracted to it. It now looks like a fangirl magazine! All you need are smiley faces in the comment page! If you
want nine year olds to read this, it's perfect. Just my opinion but you want more "hits" not less.

Hello Everyone at ATA,

Happy Anniversary!

I have been a loyal reader this blog for about a year and a half. I have found it to be interesting, fun, respectful and intelligent.

I love the new look and the title is great.

I have to agree with some commentators that the Anderson face screen in the background is very distracting. It's those eyes.

I'd think I also prefer something a little more understated. I kind of had a flash back to my New Kids on the Block phase. lol

It's nice to know that there are others besides myself that enjoy the journalistic stylings of Mr. Cooper.

Thank you to everyone who works hard to keep this blog up and running.

sydney said...

Well, thank goodness. I was afraid you got attacked by trolls and had to go private and, as often happens in my life, I got left out of the party LOL!

I first discovered you guys around 1 1/2 yrs. ago and have found this place to be an indispensible source of Anderson related info. Stuff like his appearances, etc., that I would never know about otherwise. Not to mention it's a great place to keep tabs on 360 when I'm not able to watch.

That being said, as pretty as the new layout is, I have to agree with anon 10:54 - that gorgeous headshot in the background makes some of the print difficult to read. I like it though, so hopefully I'll get used to it.
