Syndies finally saw some ratings gains as May sweeps kicked into gear in the week ended May 13.

CBS Television Distribution's Dr. Phil widened its lead over the field, finishing the week at a 3.2 live plus same day household rating, a 10% improvement from the prior week, and the show's best ratings in ten weeks.

Sony's Dr. Oz dropped 4% to finish in second place at a 2.6. Warner Bros.' Ellen added 4% to a 2.4 and third place. NBCUniversal's Maury dipped 4% to a 2.3 to tie Disney-ABC's Live! with Kelly. CTD's Rachael Ray remained steady at a 1.5, tying CTD's The Doctors, which fell 6%. NBCU's Jerry Springer rebounded 15% from its prior-week season low. NBCU's Steve Wilkos added 8% to a 1.3. In other 'Anderson' news ~

Katie Couric’s talk show to air at 2 p.m. weekdays on WESH

“Katie” debuts Sept. 10 and will air at 3 and 4 p.m. in many other markets. But WESH has Ellen DeGeneres at 3 and local news at 4. So Couric will air live in the 2 p.m. slot. WESH is dropping “Anderson,” Anderson Cooper’s talk show.

ABC is opening the 3 p.m. weekday time slot to accommodate Couric’s syndicated talk show in the fall. ABC affiliate WFTV-Channel 9 will offer a Steve Harvey syndicated talk show in the time slot.

NOTE: WESH is the NBC affiliate in Orlando. Not sure if another station is picking up 'Anderson' in the Orlando market or not.

And in the Washington DC market ~

7 To Run "Katie" At 4, Move "Anderson" To 3 - 5/16 - DCRTV hears that Allbritton's Channel 7/WJLA will move Anderson Cooper's "Anderson" show one hour earlier, start time 3 PM, come September. When it will debut Katie Couric's new "Katie" show at 4 PM. Cooper's lowish ratings have hurt the numbers for 7's 5 PM newscast. Also, DCRTV hears that WJLA will run "Good Morning America Afternoon Edition" at 2 PM for eight weeks starting in July, replacing the cancelled "The Revolution." Come September, "General Hospital" will get moved into the 2 PM slot on 7. It currently airs at 3 PM.....

It's not a big deal if 'Anderson' moves up or down a tenth of a point or two but the news that even one affiliate is canceling the show is something to be worried about.

The other affiliates who are moving the schedule around for Katie Couric's new show should also make Anderson worry. The time to improve his show cannot wait until September, he needs to bump it up now.

I don't know what WCCO will be doing, if anything. Right now they have 'Anderson' on at 9 am (CST) opposite 'Regis and Kelly' (or whoever Kelly is paired with).

For Anderson's sake, I hope everything works out but this new news is cause for concern.

Wake Up Folks:
WESH, channel 4, will not be the only ones to drop Anderson for Katie.
Yes, his "lowish ratings" aren't helping his newscast either on CNN, where they've plummeted downward for most of this year.
Someone has to tell Anderson the truth: He is no showhost, but since he was "nominated" up against Dr Oz, of all people, maybe a loss might ring a bell.
Ya think?

@Jaanza, I'm not certain, but I think Anderson may be moving to your local FOX station come fall. You may want to check as I think I heard something about that a few months ago.
