Anderson Cooper 360 on Monday, December 15, 2014

Anderson Cooper was in the anchor chair for an expanded two hour edition of AC360 and opened the program by bringing up to date on the hostage drama in Sydney, Australia ~

Anderson tweeted a photo about an interview he did for Warner Bros. at lunch today and we found a couple more from the event on social media:

My problem with Monday's 360 was having already watched a lot of Blitzer's show earlier. So the Sydney hostage news was not "Breaking" for me. However, if 360 was the first news you've seen or heard all day, it was a good overview of how the hostage situation unfolded and ended.
Anderson also took a look at the Islamist extremist gunman, "Lone Wolf" vs "Self Starter", Muslim ideology and terrorism, possibility of copycats and the NYC angle. He spoke with Anna Corem, Chris Voss, ? Nawaz and Deborah Feyerick.

Next was a Susan Candiotti report on the hunt in Pennsylvania for a guy who killed six family members. I didn't pay close attention because a football game was starting just two channels away.

Football was partly the reason I didn't watch much of the report scrutinizing testimony given to the grand jury concerning the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson MO. 360 already had a handful of reports on this topic.

Camille Cosby made a statement today defending her husband Bill. Totally unsurprising. The time would have been better spent talking to Jeffrey Toobin or other legal pundits about today's Supreme Court decision in Helen vs North Carolina concerning police officers. Basically, 8 to 1 the SCOTUS decided police could give you a ticket without knowing whether what you're doing is against the law; you just gotta have the time and the money to figure it out later in court apparently.

The first hour of 360 featured at least two commercials for Anderson's New Year's Eve show with Kathy Griffin. I don't like Griffin and the commercials did nothing to entice me to watch.

I didn't watch the second hour; a few glances during football commercial breaks looked like Anderson was covering the same topics as the first hour.

Jaanza, why don't you like Kathy Griffin? She's so funny, especially when paired with Anderson.

I don't know about Jaanza, but I don't like Kathy, she's just not my cup of tea.

@Anon 1:06 PM -Griffin's sense of humor never made me laugh and her personality grates me. It seems like Griffin tries to be obnoxious and outrageous not to be funny but only to be obnoxious and outrageous. There are female comedians out there - Roseanne and the late Joan Rivers for example -who could be obnoxious but still make me laugh.

Griffin has her fans and the New Year's Eve shows get decent enough ratings to invite her back. But I won't be watching.
